Mallorca’s olive harvest begins shortly

The harvest takes place from end of October to January. In the region of Soller and Fornalutx the olives come from trees that are up to 800 years old, many of them planted in the time of the arabs. Flourishing in high locations of the Tramontana mountain range, the olives in our region are picked by hand.

Quite close to Can Verdera there is the finca Ca’n Det, still dedicated to the growing of olives as well as the extraction of olive oil. The olive oil press, first mentioned in 1561, continues working with the traditional method using the original millstones. If you like to visit Ca’n Det, for me its a pleasure in making an special arrangement for you.
